The National Unity Platform flagbearer for Kassanda North and incumbent Member of Parliament, Patrick Nsamba Oshabe, has stepped up campaign rallies across the constituency as he seeks a third term in Parliament.
Nsamba on Wednesday campaigned in Kalwana Sub-county, where he called on voters in Kassanda District to continue punishing the ruling National Resistance Movement by voting against its candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
“For over forty years, the NRM government has failed to deliver better services to Kassanda District,” Nsamba told supporters.
He accused the government of deliberately neglecting the area and cited poor road infrastructure, lack of clean water, inadequate health services, and widespread poverty as key challenges affecting residents.
“When you look at our district, you cannot find the courage to vote for NRM. You ask yourself what they have done for us in the past forty years. We have poor roads, yet we pay taxes. You go to health facilities and see how people are suffering,” Nsamba said.
He thanked residents of Kalwana for their continued support for the National Unity Platform, saying the size of the crowds attending his rallies signalled trouble for the ruling party in the upcoming polls.
“The turnout has spoken, and this is a signal to NRM that they should not think of garnering votes from Kassanda District,” he added.
Kalwana Sub-county LC III Chairperson Emmanuel Kiwalabye Katongole praised Nsamba for his role in addressing land disputes in the area, saying the legislator has worked closely with local leaders to fight land grabbing.
“I want to thank Honourable Nsamba because when we came into office, there were many land-related cases and many people were being evicted. Since he coordinated with us at the local level, we have not recorded any land dispute in the past five years,” Katongole said.
Katongole added that NUP leaders in the area have helped cancel five fraudulent land titles over the same period.
“We have managed to cancel five fake land titles, and you can bear me witness that land disputes in our area are no more,” he said.
Dalamba Parish Councillor Maria Goret Kabasinguzi urged voters to safeguard their voter location slips, alleging that some individuals are collecting them from LC offices to confuse voters on polling day.
“I want to tell you to go and collect your slips to enable you to vote on January 15, 2026,” Kabasinguzi said.
Kalwana District Councillor Emmanuel Ssenyonjo also rallied voters to support the National Unity Platform, citing cooperation between the district leadership and MP Nsamba.
“We thank MP Nsamba for the cooperation with us, and we request our voters to entrust us with their votes,” Ssenyonjo said.
